De quelle planète es-tu is a somewhat random lifestyle blog featuring everything from knick-knacks to landscapes from the Rocky Mountains to the Parisian skyline, delicious places for grub and most importantly notes on life. It is a portal filled with splendor and pretty things, yummy snacks and a glimpse at culture and friendships. On De quelle planète es-tu you’ll also find tips for the Paris and other places. It’s refreshing to stop and smell the roses every time and again.

I’m Meg, a Denver native, Parisian since 2008. My story with France has been intertwined with my Rocky Mountain roots since I was a pre-teen, and somehow my life here has fallen into place. Digital project manager in the luxury industry by day, this blog is my creative outlet.

WHAT DOES “DE QUELLE PLANETE ES TU” MEAN?
It translates to “what planet are you from?”. I first found this fabulous question in the book Le Petit Prince by Antoine Saint-Exupéry. I don’t want to give away too much because I think every human being should read this book, but basically it’s a pretty basic question that brings up some not quite so basic ways of thinking. It’s just so good. The world is an oyster.

WHO DESIGNS YOUR BLOG?
I have a theme that I purchased from The Theme Foundry, and I customize the CSS myself. I host my blog through WordPress. The font I created myself with iFontMaker and the icons I all do myself. I’m constantly finding new ways to modify by learning new techi skills, which is a hobby of mine. If anything is done by someone else, I will credit that person.

WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DO YOU USE?
I use a Nikon D5100 with various lenses.

WHAT DO YOU DO? HOW IS THIS BLOG RELATED?
This blog is indeed just a hobby, a creative outlet. I love sharing my thoughts on places and things I like and find pretty. I want things to be shared, because what’s the interest in just keeping it all to myself? I am a full-time digital project manager by day.

ARE YOU HALF FRENCH? HOW DID YOU LEARN FRENCH?
No, I am 100% American from two very American parents. Hehe! However, I did spend a summer in Paris when I was 14 taking French classes, and a year of high school in France (Normandy). After coming back for my senior year of high school, I knew I had to get back to France for Uni. And bien sûr I met a Frenchman along the way. Cliché, eh? From a very young age I had a strong interest for learning foreign languages. I really couldn’t tell you why I chose to take French.

WHAT DOES YOUR PSEUDO ‘MARHABAMEG’ MEAN?
Marhaba means “hello” in Arabic. As I have learned Arabic as a foreign language for quite some time and studied abroad in Lebanon, I always loved how it rang ever so nicely with Meg. I first used it for my twitter handle, @marhabameg. Let’s just say that it has certainly stuck! I know it’s often complicated that my handles are different from the blog name, but I figure it all goes together. I hope you guys are cool with it.

I’M COMING TO PARIS. WHERE DO I START?
This city has so much to do. AH. And so much to eat. I still have a big to do list and I’ve been here 5 years! You can check out my favorite spots in my Paris city guide. Don’t hesitate to if you have any questions. :)

CAN I LINK BACK TO YOU?
Of course! Sharing is the best. My only request is that if you use my photographs, it would be wonderful if you could link back to the post they were posted in.
